The Pressure to Have Arrived
<p>We’ve normalized expecting young people to have their lives figured out financially before they’ve even had the chance to build them.</p><p><br/></p><p>You’re in your twenties, trying to find your path, and somehow you’re already expected to have a stable income, savings, investments, a nice lifestyle, and enough money to help everyone around you.</p><p><br/></p><p>You get your first decent income, and suddenly it’s no longer your money. Someone needs help. Someone needs a bill paid. Someone expects you to contribute.</p><p><br/></p><p>And when you say, “I can’t afford it,” people look at you like you’re not trying hard enough.</p><p><br/></p><p>Social media makes the pressure even worse. You see people your age travelling, buying cars, building businesses and living the life you dream about.</p><p><br/></p><p>You start wondering, “What am I doing wrong?”</p><p><br/></p><p>But what you don’t see is the starting point behind the picture.</p><p><br/></p><p>Some people had support. Some had connections. Some had opportunities you never had. Some are simply further ahead and that doesn’t mean you’re behind.</p><p><br/></p><p>We need to stop making young people feel like failures because they haven’t “arrived” yet.</p><p><br/></p><p>You are allowed to be a work in progress. You are allowed to start small. You are allowed to take your time.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because life isn’t a race to see who can arrive first.</p><p><br/></p><p>Keep building. Your time will come.</p>
