THE GIRL WHO LEFT HER DREAM BEHIND

I have grown to know two versions of myself. I'm puzzled, just as you are. One version is a confident lady who wears impact like a regalia. A lady of influence who wields so much authority in her vast space. A lady of essence and purpose, living out her dream easily, like Shakespeare scribbling words.

Another version, this latter version, is the current version of myself. A lady who is a living shadow of herself, whose dreams lie helplessly in her hands while she frustratingly watches them turn into funny hallucinations. Confused, still, always mumbling to herself, "What's next?" but will eventually push no further.

This is me. I am trying to live out my dream; believe me, I've been trying, but every second of it looks like an illusion, certainly not coming true. The vivid image lies helplessly before me, but not an iota of strength to push further is left in me.

Wait.

Selah.

Reflect.

This might be your current state. Sometimes it's good to be delusional; maybe that will stir up a great sense of usefulness in you. But the best of your essence is savored when you live purposefully. A man without purpose is like someone heading nowhere; he knows not where he goes and might even get lost.

A lot of times, reality is not what you've painted at heart—no motivations, no support from anywhere; you just exist and don't fully live. At this point, it's so easy to get tired. A truthful escape from the "purposeless state" is to first and foremost know that you're not purposeless. No one is here by mistake. It has been predestined that you will exist at this particular time in life; you were made for such a time as this. Also, you have a role to play in God's script.

Knowing that your current state is not the end of it is also an escape route into living fully. A wise lady once told me that no matter the extent or depth you've gotten to in anything, there's always more to dig up. Even though you're not acting less than yourself, there is always more.

Living life without purpose is like repeating yesterday's process over and over again. It can be so boring and useless. To fully live and not just exist, discover yourself. Another thing is to know that all you need to live out your real self is embedded in you. If there is a purpose for every man, then there are also embedded resources to live it out. Yours is to stir those things up!
