THE LAW OF THE WILD: A TALE OF TWO KINGS 2
<p>Until one day, the cub of the lion roamed to the river to take water, after eating chunks of meat.</p><p><br/></p><p>He slowly walked to the river.</p><p><br/></p><p>A step </p><p><br/></p><p>After a step.</p><p><br/></p><p>The breeze whispered. The waves gently caressed the riverbank.</p><p><br/></p><p>And the grasses by the sides rustled.</p><p><br/></p><p>He stood still. </p><p><br/></p><p>His amber eyes scanned the river.</p><p><br/></p><p>Everything seemed calm</p><p><br/></p><p>Then he noticed a patch of foam formed on the water.</p><p><br/></p><p>“What could that be?” he wondered.</p><p><br/></p><p>Little did he know that he was there.</p><p><br/></p><p>The king of the ocean was there.</p><p><br/></p><p>The crocodile was beneath the water.</p><p><br/></p><p>For hours, he had remained motionless, waiting for the animals that would trespass.</p><p><br/></p><p>The hyena had seen him earlier and quickly retreated.</p><p><br/></p><p>Rabbit sighted his eyes and fled without looking back.</p><p><br/></p><p>They knew the river had two sides.</p><p><br/></p><p>The calm.</p><p><br/></p><p>And the other was death.</p><p><br/></p><p>But the cub knew none.</p><p><br/></p><p>He took another step.</p><p><br/></p><p>Closer and closer to the river.</p><p><br/></p><p>He lowered his head. His reflection danced on the river and stared back at him.</p><p><br/></p><p>He stretched his tongue and took a sip.</p><p><br/></p><p>He drank. </p><p><br/></p><p>Nothing happened.</p><p><br/></p><p>He drank again.</p><p><br/></p><p>The water remained silent.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then a smile parted his lips.</p><p><br/></p><p>“So this is what they are scared of,” he murmured.</p><p><br/></p><p>The crocodile did not move.</p><p><br/></p><p>His eyes were fixed on the unsuspecting cub.</p><p><br/></p><p>Again the cub moved closer.</p><p><br/></p><p>His front pawn slid toward the muddy edge.</p><p><br/></p><p>The crocodile’s tail swayed beneath the water.</p><p><br/></p><p>He was calculating.</p><p><br/></p><p>Measuring the distance.</p><p><br/></p><p>One strike and everything would end.</p><p><br/></p><p>Just as he gathered strength to launch.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Young prince!”</p><p><br/></p><p>A voice came through.</p><p><br/></p><p>The cub jerked up, “What!’</p><p><br/></p><p>Standing metres away was an old tortoise, panting.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Step away from the river,” he cried.</p><p><br/></p><p>The cub frowned</p><p><br/></p><p>“Why?”</p><p><br/></p><p>The river exploded before the tortoise could explain.</p><p><br/></p><p>A massive body crashes against the riverside </p><p><br/></p><p>The crocodile lunged with terrifying speed.</p><p><br/></p><p>His deadly jaw flew open</p><p><br/></p><p>The cub froze </p><p><br/></p><p>Snap!</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>To be continued </strong></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>
