THE LAW OF THE WILD: THE TALE OF TWO KINGS 3
<p>The massive jaws clamped against his body.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Young prince!” the tortoise called, his voice cut through the jungle.</p><p><br/></p><p>One by one the other animals appeared</p><p><br/></p><p>Monkey raised his hand to his head, when he saw the cub dangling between the jaw of the crocodile.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Ha!” the zebra exclaimed.</p><p><br/></p><p>The rabbits wagged their tails and bursted into laughter.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Karma is real,” one of them said “His father killed my children. Now let him live by this.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Water filled antelope’s eyes, “Oh poor innocent boy”</p><p><br/></p><p>The animals gathered along the riverbank but none dared interfere. </p><p><br/></p><p>Only their voices crashed in the air.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Free him.”</p><p><br/></p><p>“He's the young prince”</p><p><br/></p><p>Back at the den, the lion searched for the cub. </p><p><br/></p><p>“Where could he go?” he muttered</p><p><br/></p><p>His eyes swept grass, trees and bush.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then he then burst across the territory.</p><p><br/></p><p>Searching.</p><p><br/></p><p>Searching.</p><p><br/></p><p>And searching…</p><p><br/></p><p>Nothing.</p><p><br/></p><p>His heart began to pound violently.</p><p><br/></p><p>His golden eyes glistened, darting every direction.</p><p><br/></p><p>A dreadful thought crossed his mind.</p><p><br/></p><p>Perhaps, he had been taken by the rivals.</p><p><br/></p><p>He turned and called the pride</p><p><br/></p><p>“I can't find the prince,” he roared</p><p><br/></p><p>Murmur filled the air.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Search every corner of the jungle. Every hiding place. Every inch of the territory and bring my son back here,” he commanded.</p><p><br/></p><p>As they were about to dash out</p><p><br/></p><p>“Wait!”</p><p><br/></p><p>A voice echoed from the distance.</p><p><br/></p><p>The antelope came running and panting heavily.</p><p><br/></p><p>“The cub had been taken.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Silence…</p><p><br/></p><p>The lions exchanged uneasy glance </p><p><br/></p><p>Slowly, the king moved closer to him.</p><p><br/></p><p>The soft thud of his paws beat against the earth</p><p><br/></p><p>He stopped before antelope and looked into his eyes.</p><p><br/></p><p>“By whom?” </p><p><br/></p><p>The antelope looked down, bowing his head slightly.</p><p><br/></p><p>“At the river. Cro….. crocodile” he said,his voice trembling.</p><p><br/></p><p>The lion threw back his head and roared.</p><p><br/></p><p>The sound tore through the forest</p><p><br/></p><p>Not ordinarily. </p><p><br/></p><p>It carried pain.</p><p><br/></p><p>Anger.</p><p><br/></p><p>Rage.</p><p><br/></p><p>The animals that gathered at the riverside heard it.</p><p><br/></p><p>They all trembled.</p><p><br/></p><p>War is imminent.</p><p><br/></p><p>The crocodile heard it.</p><p><br/></p><p>The cub heard it. </p><p><br/></p><p>Every creature beneath the river heard it and they swam to the surface</p><p><br/></p><p>“What's happening?” the young crocodile asked.</p><p><br/></p><p>Slowly, he swam to the surface. </p><p><br/></p><p>“Father,” he called. “Free the young prince.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The crocodile looked back.</p><p><br/></p><p>No response.</p><p><br/></p><p>The lion sprinted to the river. The earth trembled beneath his paw.</p><p><br/></p><p>His eyes were burning with fury.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Release my son now!” he roared, as he lunged toward the crocodile.</p><p><br/></p><p>The crocodile did not flinched. </p><p><br/></p><p>Rather, he tightened his jaw around the cub’s body</p><p><br/></p><p>The cub cried.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Father! save me!”</p><p><br/></p><p>The lion roared again.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Have you forgetten the rules?”</p><p><br/></p><p>The crocodile looked at the lion and smiled.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not remorseful.</p><p><br/></p><p>No regret.</p><p><br/></p><p>He slightly released his jaw.</p><p><br/></p><p>“I know the rules, but your son violated the rules by trespassing”</p><p><br/></p><p>He clamped his jaw again. </p><p><br/></p><p>The lion moved forward. His heart pounded against his ribs. </p><p><br/></p><p>His nostrils flared with anger.</p><p><br/></p><p>He padded from left to the right.</p><p><br/></p><p>Right to the left.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then he saw it.</p><p><br/></p><p>Something beneath the river…</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>To be continued…..</strong></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>
