THE "OLODO UPRISING" IS NOT THE PROBLEM—WE ARE.
<p>When the internet was buzzing over a comment Ycee made concerning the "Olodo Uprising," using Peller as an example, netizens were all over the place asking, "How much does he have in his account?" and "Does having a degree put money in your account?"</p><p><br/></p><p>All of this made me realize that the so-called "Olodo Uprisers" are not the problem. We, as a society, are the problem. </p><p><br/></p><p>We are the ones who promote, watch, and indulge them.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because, tell me why does speaking gibberish in front of a camera in the name of streaming earn someone millions of followers, while an intellectual sets up a tripod and camera to discuss meaningful and educational issues, yet gets little or no audience?</p><p><br/></p><p>In this case, is it the fault of the "Olodo Uprisers," or is it our fault for watching and streaming their videos? We now prefer entertainment to education. We would rather be lied to than hear the truth.</p><p><br/></p><p>If you ask me, the "Olodo Uprisers" are not the problem. We, as a society, are. We promote and prefer to watch foolishness online, but when someone comes online to tell us the truth, he or she gets dragged—as was the case with Ycee.</p><p><br/></p><p>©️Seun</p>
