The Overlap
<p><br/></p><p>I didn’t find out the way I thought I would.</p><p>No confrontation.</p><p>No confession.</p><p>No moment where everything shattered at once.</p><p>Just something small.</p><p>Something easy to miss</p><p>if I wasn’t already paying attention.</p><p>A name that felt too familiar.</p><p>A pause that lasted a second too long.</p><p>A shift in you</p><p>I had been trying not to notice.</p><p>And the worst part is…</p><p>I think a part of me already knew.</p><p>I just didn’t want to be right.</p><p>Because believing it</p><p>would mean accepting</p><p>that everything I thought we were…</p><p>was already changing.</p><p><br/></p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/IMG_4375.jpeg"/><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>And suddenly,</p><p>everything I had been ignoring</p><p>started making sense.</p><p>You weren’t distant.</p><p>You were distracted.</p><p>You weren’t confused.</p><p>You had already made space</p><p>for something else.</p><p>Just not for me.</p><p>You still showed up.</p><p>Still spoke to me.</p><p>Still looked like you were there.</p><p>But now I see it clearly,</p><p>you were dividing yourself…</p><p>between what we had</p><p>and what you were starting somewhere else.</p><p>And I was the only one</p><p>who didn’t know.</p><p><br/></p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/IMG_4377.jpeg"/><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>That’s the part that stays with me.</p><p>Not even the lies</p><p>but how easily you made room for someone else</p><p>while I was still standing right there</p><p>trying to make room for you.</p><p>Do you know what that does to a person?</p><p>To realize your loyalty</p><p>was being given to something</p><p>that was already being shared?</p><p>To understand that while you were holding on,</p><p>someone else was being let in</p><p>without your knowledge?</p><p>I felt it before I understood it.</p><p>That quiet discomfort.</p><p>That unexplainable distance.</p><p>Now I know</p><p>it wasn’t in my head.</p><p>It was you.</p><p><br/></p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/IMG_4376.jpeg"/><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>I replayed everything.</p><p>Every word.</p><p>Every moment.</p><p>Every “I love you”</p><p>that I took at face value.</p><p>And I keep asking myself</p><p>when did it stop being true?</p><p>Was it before her?</p><p>Or because of her?</p><p>Or was I just the one</p><p>who didn’t notice</p><p>when you started leaving me</p><p>while still standing next to me?</p><p>Because looking back…</p><p>I can see it.</p><p>The way your attention shifted.</p><p>The way I had to start asking</p><p>for what used to come naturally.</p><p>I thought we were going through something.</p><p>I didn’t know</p><p>you were already replacing me.</p><p><br/></p><p><img src="/media/inline_insight_image/IMG_4378.jpeg"/><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>And what hurts the most</p><p>isn’t even her.</p><p>It’s you.</p><p>You, who looked me in the eyes</p><p>and chose to stay</p><p>while doing everything</p><p>that meant</p><p>you had already left.</p><p>You could have told me.</p><p>You could have been honest.</p><p>You could have given me</p><p>the chance to walk away</p><p>with my dignity still intact.</p><p>But instead…</p><p>you let me keep loving you</p><p>like I was the only one.</p><p>While you were giving that same love</p><p>to someone else.</p><p>And that’s what broke me.</p><p>Not the ending.</p><p>But the overlap.</p><p>The part where</p><p>I was still yours</p><p>and you were already</p><p>someone else’s.</p><p>Honestly, I don’t hate you.<br/></p><p>I just don’t recognize you anymore.</p><p>And maybe that’s worse.</p><p>Because the person I loved</p><p>wouldn’t have done this.</p><p>And the person who did this…</p><p>was never mine to begin with.</p><p><br/></p>
