THE STUDENT WHO STOPPED TRYING TO BE PERFECT

For a long time, Daniel thought being a good student meant always getting the highest grade, understanding everything immediately, and never making mistakes.

So whenever he struggled with a subject, he became frustrated.

When he got a low score, he felt like a failure.

When he saw another student performing better than him, he started questioning himself.

Eventually, he became afraid of trying.

He didn't want to ask questions because he was afraid people would think he wasn't smart.

He didn't want to attempt difficult assignments because he was afraid of getting them wrong.

He spent more time worrying about making mistakes than actually learning.

One day, after receiving another disappointing result, his lecturer told him something he never forgot:

“You came to school to learn, not to prove that you already know everything.”

That sentence changed his mindset.

Daniel realized that making mistakes wasn't proof that he was stupid.

It was proof that he was learning.

So he started doing things differently.

Instead of hiding when he didn't understand something, he asked questions.

Instead of giving up after a poor result, he studied what he got wrong.

Instead of comparing himself with other students, he started comparing himself with who he was yesterday.

Slowly, things began to change.

His grades improved.

But more importantly, his confidence improved.

He finally understood that education isn't a race where everyone must reach the finish line at the same time.

Everyone has a different starting point, different challenges, different strengths, and different pace.

MY LESSON HERE FOR YOU ALL

As a student, don't put so much pressure on yourself to be perfect.

Be willing to be a beginner.

Be willing to ask questions.

Be willing to make mistakes.

Be willing to fail and try again.

A bad grade is feedback—not a final definition of your ability.

And someone else's success is not evidence of your failure.

Your goal should not be to become better than everyone else.

Your goal should be to become better than the person you were yesterday.

So if school feels difficult right now, don't give up on yourself.

Take a breath.

Review what you don't understand.

Ask for help.

Try another method.

And keep moving.

Because sometimes, the student who succeeds isn't the one who understands everything immediately.

It's the one who refuses to stop learning.

SND ALSO REMEMBER

You don't have to be the smartest student in the room.

You just have to be willing to learn, improve, and keep going.

Your journey is still being written.

Don't let one difficult chapter convince you that the whole story will be a failure. 🎓❤️

SO TELL ME,

What's one school challenge you're currently facing that you're determined not to give up on?

Share it in the comments. Someone else may be going through the same thing—and your words might encourage them to keep going.

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.

Most Engaged Content
The Most Engaged Content recognizes users whose content received the most engagement during the month.
We pick the top 3.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Contributors" tab on the rankings page.
Contributor Rankings
The Rankings/Leaderboard shows the Top 20 contributors and engagers on TwoCents a monthly and all-time basis
— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
This page also shows the top engagers on an all-time & monthly basis.
