WE ONLY RESPECT PEOPLE AFTER THEY SUCCEED

There is something strange about the way we treat people in this country.We often ignore people while they are struggling, then celebrate them when they finally succeed.When a young person has an idea but no money, we call it unrealistic.When they are still learning, we call them inexperienced.When they fail, we laugh.When they ask for help, many people suddenly become too busy.But let that same person succeed.Let the business grow.Let the invention become popular.Let thousands of people start following them.Let the money begin to show.Suddenly, everybody remembers their name.The same people who once doubted them now say, “I always knew this person would go far.”But did you?Or did you simply wait until success made them impossible to ignore?This is one of the reasons many talented people struggle silently.They don't always lack ability.Sometimes, they lack someone willing to believe in them before the evidence arrives.We have become a society that celebrates results more than potential.We applaud the finished building but rarely ask who encouraged the person when they were still laying the first block.We celebrate the successful entrepreneur but forget the young person who spent years learning without anyone taking them seriously.We celebrate the famous writer but ignore the unknown writer filling notebooks every night.We celebrate the great artist but overlook the beginner whose work is still rough.Yet every master was once a beginner.Every successful person once had an idea that looked small.Every great name was once unknown.And this is why we must become better at recognizing potential before success gives it a face.Not everyone needs money from you.Sometimes they need advice.Sometimes they need an opportunity.Sometimes they need someone to say, “Keep going. I can see what you're trying to build.”Imagine what Nigeria could become if we stopped waiting for people to become successful before giving them respect.Imagine how many ideas would survive.How many businesses would grow.How many young people would refuse to give up.How many problems would be solved by people who were previously dismissed as “nobody.”But there is another side to this.If you are currently being ignored, don't spend your entire life begging people to recognize you.Build. Learn. Improve. Keep working.Because eventually, your work must become stronger than their doubt.And when success finally comes, remember the season when nobody believed in you.Not so you can become bitter.But so that you can become the person you once needed.Don't just become successful enough to be noticed.Become successful enough to notice others. ©️ Sammy Góld
