Women's Africa 🌍

This young woman right here is Raheema Auwal-Panti, a 15-year old Nigerian, who invented biodegradable sanitary pads from agricultural waste. They are called Panti-pads.

The pads are completely natural and decompose. Her aim wasn't to make heavy organic pads that would be sold at more than the cost of an actual pad. Raheema realised that most girls miss school or use unsafe substitutes because pads are hard to get and harder to pay for. When they can get products, they are uncomfortable and harmful to the planet.

They are designed to be accessible for every women and girls in rural regions.

Raheema was named a finalist for the 2026 earth prize and she's fighting period poverty and plastic pollution for the future of women's Africa
