Yesterday I nearly died. And please, I’m not even exaggerating. Menstrual cramps are actually hell. Like what is all this? Every month, you bleed, your mood is everywhere, you’re craving random things, you’re bloated, anxious, tired and then cramps will still come and finish the remaining strength in you. As if all that is not enough, you now have to wear a pad that makes you uncomfortable every two seconds. 😭 I have never used a tampon before and I honestly don't know how people put that thing there because I'm scared. How are you people doing it so casually? 😭😭 The first day of my period is usually the worst for me. Sometimes I completely lose my appetite. Food that I normally love will be in front of me and I won't even want to look at it. Then the vomiting can start. So now you're hungry but you can't eat, you're in pain, you're uncomfortable and you're throwing up too. Wonderful.

And my cramps are not even the small type. There was a time I used to end up in the hospital because of how bad the pain was. The pain can start from my stomach, move to my back, my head, my legs, everywhere just starts hurting. And there is this particular sharp pain I usually get around the third day that can come out of nowhere. I remember one day in school, I was going back to my hostel and looking for keke when the pain suddenly came. I didn't even have time to think. I just squatted down there on the road and stayed like that until it passed. 😭 People were probably looking at me but honestly, I didn't care. What was I supposed to do? Stand there and form strong woman while my uterus was trying to finish me? Abeg. At that point, if someone had told me to lie down on the road, I would have done it. I just wanted the pain to stop.

And this is why I don't like when people act like period pain is just small stomach pain. Some women go through really terrible pain and still have to attend lectures, go to work, cook, clean and basically continue with their normal lives like nothing is happening. Sometimes you're in so much pain that even crying is uncomfortable. You just lie there and wait for it to reduce because there's nothing else you can do. So yes, yesterday I nearly died. 😂 I'm alive today though, and since women are apparently expected to suffer through all this every month, Cyrus, please gift all the ladies ₦50k each. We deserve it. In fact, let me not be greedy, make it ₦100k. Thank you. 😭😂

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
