ADULTHOOD

When I was young, I usually saw adults as free human beings. Nobody to control them, they could do whatever they want, go out whenever they want and likewise come back whenever they want.

One thing that stood out for me was that, they could eat whatever they want. That alone pained me a lot as a child. When I was a child, and I didn't get what I want to eat, I usually would comfort myself by saying " when I grow up I'll be able to eat whatever I want to eat, more so in a large quantity".

One thing also, was that, adults do not go to school, that was what I thought. When I was young I was faced with the reality of always waking up in the morning to go to school.

So I began hoping for the day that I'll become an adult.

Now I'm 18 years of age............

The beginning of adulthood.

On the day I turned 18, I was so happy, I felt what it was like to be an adult. 'Freedom at lastttt' I said.

But as time went on, I realized that adulthood or being an adult wasn't easy and that I only saw the sweet part of being an adult as a child.

As an adult, you have to fend for yourself, figure out your life and make worthwhile decisions. (To be honest none of that is easy). Unlike childhood, where we have parents to provide for us

One thing I also realized was that adulthood was boring, for me. Most of my friends that we graduated from secondary school with, life took us to different places even at this early stage of adulthood, as a result of the tertiary institutions we chose.

As a child, it was easier for me to make friends, but now I find it difficult to do so.

From all these, I can say that childhood is sweeter than adulthood.
