<p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>The Head Girl was still staring at me.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Every girl who sleeps in Bed 27 says the same thing on her first morning.”</p><p><br/></p><p>I looked at the photograph again.</p><p><br/></p><p>Thirty-six girls.</p><p><br/></p><p>Eighteen bunk beds.</p><p><br/></p><p>The bunk above mine was empty.</p><p><br/></p><p>But I remembered someone sleeping there.</p><p><br/></p><p>I remembered her climbing down.</p><p><br/></p><p>I remembered her walking into the toilet.</p><p><br/></p><p>I remembered her whispering in my ear.</p><p><br/></p><p>You're not supposed to be in Bed 27.</p><p><br/></p><p>Ifeoma suddenly grabbed my wrist.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her hand was freezing.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Don't tell anyone what you saw.”</p><p><br/></p><p>“Why?”</p><p><br/></p><p>She looked at me.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Because then they will know you can see her.”</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>That night, I stayed awake.</p><p><br/></p><p>At 3:14 a.m., someone knocked on the toilet door.</p><p><br/></p><p>Once.</p><p><br/></p><p>Twice.</p><p><br/></p><p>Three times.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then I heard a girl whisper:</p><p><br/></p><p>“Please open the door.”</p><p><br/></p><p>I didn't move.</p><p><br/></p><p>The voice came again.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Please.”</p><p><br/></p><p>It sounded like Ifeoma.</p><p><br/></p><p>I looked at her bed.</p><p><br/></p><p>She was asleep.</p><p><br/></p><p>I could see her.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then the voice from the toilet whispered:</p><p><br/></p><p>“Don't look at her.”</p><p><br/></p><p>I froze.</p><p><br/></p><p>I slowly turned toward Ifeoma's bed.</p><p><br/></p><p>She was still asleep.</p><p><br/></p><p>But her eyes were open.</p><p><br/></p><p>And she was staring directly at me.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>I screamed.</p><p><br/></p><p>The lights came on.</p><p><br/></p><p>Everyone woke up.</p><p><br/></p><p>Ifeoma sat up.</p><p><br/></p><p>“What happened?”</p><p><br/></p><p>I pointed at her.</p><p><br/></p><p>“You were awake!”</p><p><br/></p><p>She frowned.</p><p><br/></p><p>“I was sleeping.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The Head Girl looked at me.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then at Ifeoma.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then she whispered:</p><p><br/></p><p>“Which one?”</p><p><br/></p><p>Nobody moved.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>The next morning, I asked Ifeoma about the girl who used to sleep above my bed.</p><p><br/></p><p>She went completely pale.</p><p><br/></p><p>“What girl?”</p><p><br/></p><p>“The girl who disappeared.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Ifeoma stared at me.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then whispered:</p><p><br/></p><p>“Don't say that word.”</p><p><br/></p><p>“What word?”</p><p><br/></p><p>“Disappeared.”</p><p><br/></p><p>She looked toward the toilet.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then said:</p><p><br/></p><p>“Girls who disappear don't leave.”</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>That night, I slept somewhere else.</p><p><br/></p><p>I woke up at 3:14 a.m.</p><p><br/></p><p>My mattress was wet.</p><p><br/></p><p>I froze.</p><p><br/></p><p>Something was breathing beneath my bed.</p><p><br/></p><p>Slowly.</p><p><br/></p><p>I reached for my phone.</p><p><br/></p><p>The screen lit up.</p><p><br/></p><p>A message appeared.</p><p><br/></p><p>DON'T LOOK UNDER THE BED.</p><p><br/></p><p>I stopped breathing.</p><p><br/></p><p>Another message appeared.</p><p><br/></p><p>SHE IS NOT UNDER THERE.</p><p><br/></p><p>I stared at the screen.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then the final message appeared.</p><p><br/></p><p>YOU ARE.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>I screamed and jumped off the bed.</p><p><br/></p><p>The lights came on.</p><p><br/></p><p>The hostel was empty.</p><p><br/></p><p>Every single girl was gone.</p><p><br/></p><p>Except Ifeoma.</p><p><br/></p><p>She was standing at the end of the room.</p><p><br/></p><p>Facing the toilet.</p><p><br/></p><p>I called her name.</p><p><br/></p><p>She didn't move.</p><p><br/></p><p>I walked closer.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Ifeoma?”</p><p><br/></p><p>She slowly turned around.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her face was wet.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her eyes were swollen from crying.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then she smiled.</p><p><br/></p><p>And whispered:</p><p><br/></p><p>“You weren't supposed to wake up yet.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Behind her...</p><p><br/></p><p>The last cubicle door slowly opened.</p><p><br/></p><p>I looked inside.</p><p><br/></p><p>There was a girl sitting on the floor.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her back was facing me.</p><p><br/></p><p>I knew that uniform.</p><p><br/></p><p>I knew that hair.</p><p><br/></p><p>I knew that body.</p><p><br/></p><p>It was me.</p><p><br/></p><p>Ifeoma grabbed my hand.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her fingers were freezing.</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl inside the cubicle slowly turned her head.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not her body.</p><p><br/></p><p>Just her head.</p><p><br/></p><p>And looked at me.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then she whispered:</p><p><br/></p><p>“Don't worry.”</p><p><br/></p><p>A pause.</p><p><br/></p><p>“I can sleep for you now.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The lights went out.</p><p><br/></p><p>I heard footsteps running toward me.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then a scream.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then silence.</p><p><br/></p><p>When the lights came back on...</p><p><br/></p><p>I was lying in Bed 27.</p><p><br/></p><p>The hostel was full.</p><p><br/></p><p>Every girl was asleep.</p><p><br/></p><p>I sat up, shaking.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then I looked at the bunk above me.</p><p><br/></p><p>A girl was sleeping there.</p><p><br/></p><p>I couldn't see her face.</p><p><br/></p><p>I reached for my phone.</p><p><br/></p><p>3:14 a.m.</p><p><br/></p><p>A message appeared.</p><p><br/></p><p>WELCOME TO QUEEN MARY HOSTEL.</p><p><br/></p><p>I stared at it.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then another message appeared.</p><p><br/></p><p>YOU HAVE BEEN HERE FOR THREE WEEKS.</p><p><br/></p><p>I felt my blood turn cold.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then the final message appeared.</p><p><br/></p><p>TOMORROW, YOU WILL MEET THE NEW GIRL.</p><p><br/></p><p>I didn't understand.</p><p><br/></p><p>Until I looked toward the entrance.</p><p><br/></p><p>A matron was standing there.</p><p><br/></p><p>Beside her...</p><p><br/></p><p>Was a terrified girl carrying a box.</p><p><br/></p><p>The matron pointed toward my bed.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Bed 27.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The girl looked at me.</p><p><br/></p><p>I tried to scream.</p><p><br/></p><p>But no sound came out.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because the girl walking toward Bed 27...</p><p><br/></p><p>Was me.</p><p><br/></p><p>To be continued...</p>
At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.

Contributor Rankings

— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
This page also shows the top engagers on an all-time & monthly basis.
