Confessions of a Reluctant First-Born
<p>Warning in advance, this is going to be chaotic </p><p>I am a girl, a first born daughter but I hate cooking, well not necessarily with passion but I genuinely hate cooking, but the irony is that I love a big kitchen with good gadgets.</p><p>I have so many takes on food but is it valid in an African home, you must know how to cook because your father reminds you that you're going to your husband's house tomorrow.</p><p><br/></p><p>I hate cooking in people's houses because now I don't know if you like your spaghetti a little bit undone or crayfish is the last thing you put in your rice because of one of your yeye cooking theories you invented or you use 10 Maggi for 3 cups of rice.</p><p>It makes you feel stupid, please don't tell me to cook in your house, I'll peel Maggi, chop onions, blend pepper but please don't tell me to cook.</p><p><br/></p><p>I hate cooking large quantity of food especially jollof rice, be excepting a large pot of nonsense.</p><p>Oh yes I said it.</p><p><br/></p><p>No offence to chefs but if I was the kind of customer you get, aesthetically pleasing food would have gone extinct, I just want to eat please.</p><p><br/></p><p>Fun fact about me, to know I have overstayed my welcome in your house and I have lost my visitor's privilege, it's when you ask me to cook. I will start packing my bags.</p><p>And I don't have my "best food", I eat anything that's edible and tastes good.</p><p><br/></p><p>I bluntly say it in public that I hate cooking, to my aunt's who panic I might not bag a man, to the opposite gender who fancies me, to love interest,</p><p> I'm open about me not liking it and also telling them I want a man that can cook.</p><p>My aunties might laugh at me and tell me I'm not ready, the men will look at me, shake their heads and withdraw, I don't care but I still don't like to cook.</p><p><br/></p><p>Do you like to cook?</p><p><br/></p>
