Since I was born, different administrations, leaders have come and gone. Nigerians have always been disillusioned with them, from a complaint to another.

“Everything is difficult. Bad road. The price of goods and services is on the marathon.” These complaints never ceased to fill the air.

None of this government has satisfied the poor masses. It has always been from fry pan to fire. It now seems as though nothing is working.

Is anything even working?

We wake up every morning and blame our leaders for our predicament. In the bar, the bus is always about the state of affairs.

“Tinubu is wicked.”

Another will say ,” He should resign. We don't see and feel the impact of his administration.”

But is Tinubu really the problem? Does the problem of this country start today?

It is getting worse day by day.

And yet every four years, we go to the polling unit, sell our votes, and exchange our futures, our destiny for Ten thousands of naira, pasta, and rice.

Then we will lament, protest and spend another four years in agony.

The truth is the average Nigerians are no different from the leaders they criticise, and rain curses upon for maladministration and mismanagement.

Put an average Nigerian on the seat and see how he'll torment and make life miserable for his people.

Most of us are complaining and lamenting about the corruption because it does not favour us.

Let’s be given chance and you'll hear us calling it “Grace”

We only condemn corruption when we suffer from it, but excuse it when we benefit from it.

Corruption is in every sector.

In academics, lecturers sleep with female students for marks and for the males students, they pay for grades.

Public offices? Ghost workers on payroll,

diversion of government funds, bribery before providing services, employment based on connections instead of merit are the order of the day.

In the midst of all this , a question popped into my mind. Who is to be blamed for all these?

Is Tinubu to be blamed for the decadence in Nigeria society?

I am not trying to shade our leaders or protect their excesses, because history will definitely be lenient and kind to the king whose reign brings peace, development and prosperity.

History will also be cruel to the king who turns deaf ears to the cry of his people.

But, I am only trying to open our eyes to the fact that our leaders are the direct reflection of us and that's why we keep choosing the worst among us.

Tribalism, nepotism, favouritism have eaten deep into us that will neglect competence, quality over quantity.

Before you start criticizing the government, be it constructive or destructive, reflect on yourself, your deeds and how you treat your co-workers, friends, waiters in the restaurant.

Think about how you use the power attached to the position you're holding, then retrace your steps.

Because the change we are looking for and clamouring can only begin from you, me and us.

@Olarewaju

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
