Learning how to drown
<p>Even if I had opened the umbrella, </p><p>I was meant to get drenched.</p><p>The way </p><p>Even if you had stayed </p><p>You were still going to leave.</p><p>I remember </p><p>I kept looking at the sky that day </p><p>As if someone up there </p><p>Might try to stop us.</p><p>But no one did.</p><p>There was another rain</p><p>I was trying to hide,</p><p>The one inside me </p><p>That kept rising to my eyes,</p><p>Without asking....</p><p>I could have turned around </p><p>Looked at you one last time...</p><p>But I didn't.....</p><p>I was afraid, </p><p>What if you were still there, </p><p>And I couldn't walk away.</p><p>Anyway</p><p>In that kind of rain </p><p>You didn't really see anything.</p><p>Not faces...</p><p>Not intentions...</p><p>Not the moments....</p><p>That once felt real.</p><p>You just feel the wetness </p><p>And the cold </p><p>Slowly getting inside you </p><p>Truth is </p><p>It wasn't really raining, </p><p>It was you leaving,</p><p>And me </p><p>Learning how to drown.</p>
