Loneliness of Busyness (1): The Things We Leave Behind
<p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Sometimes we claim to do a lot, our schedules stuttering beneath the weight of endless tasks. They become so tight that we forget to care for ourselves.</p><p><br/></p><p>Self-care?</p><p><br/></p><p>Completely crossed off the list.</p><p><br/></p><p>We forget our loved ones too, not necessarily intentionally. Trust me, I'm guilty of this, and it breaks my heart.</p><p><br/></p><p>So, how do we continue pursuing the vision we seek while remembering that we are still human? How do we chase purpose without being consumed by the flames of its work?</p><p><br/></p><p>Are we alone?</p><p><br/></p><p>We don't know.</p><p><br/></p><p>Are we lonely?</p><p><br/></p><p>We cannot tell.</p><p><br/></p><p>Are we busy?</p><p><br/></p><p>I guess we are.</p><p><br/></p><p>But if being busy only helps us silence the emptiness that quietly lurks within us, that feeling that reminds us of our humanity, then perhaps we've hidden ourselves behind a veil and chosen to call it being busy.</p><p><br/></p><p>When do we come out from behind that excuse?</p><p><br/></p><p>When do we free ourselves from the lies we've learned to believe and begin to live again, not merely exist from one task to another?</p><p><br/></p><p>Perhaps the greatest loneliness isn't the absence of people.</p><p><br/></p><p>Perhaps it's becoming so busy that we slowly lose ourselves without even noticing.</p><p><br/></p><p>To be continued...</p>
