Love Yourself
<p>I used to think</p><p>loving yourself before you can be loved</p><p>was a myth.</p><p>Something people said</p><p>when they didn’t know</p><p>how to sit with pain.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because love still found me.</p><p>It always does.</p><p>It held me,</p><p>kissed my wounds,</p><p>sat beside me,</p><p>learned my favorite songs,</p><p>traced my scars</p><p>like they were stories</p><p>it wanted to keep.</p><p><br/></p><p>But nobody warned me</p><p>that love sounds like silence</p><p>when you don’t believe</p><p>you deserve to be loved.</p><p>It never stayed.</p><p>I accepted crumbs</p><p>and called it a feast.</p><p>I called 'almost'</p><p>enough.</p><p>I stayed</p><p>where I had to shrink</p><p>just to be held.</p><p><br/></p><p>Love kissed my wounds—</p><p>but never waited</p><p>for them to heal.</p><p>And when it left,</p><p>it didn’t take my heart.</p><p>It took my reflection.</p><p><br/></p><p>Turns out,</p><p>love can visit you,</p><p>unpack its bags,</p><p>learn your name—</p><p>and still not live there.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because if you don’t believe</p><p>you are worth staying for,</p><p>you will keep mistaking</p><p>temporary</p><p>for forever.</p><p>I used to think</p><p>loving yourself first</p><p>was a myth.</p><p><br/></p><p>Now I know—</p><p>it’s not advice.</p><p>It’s survival.</p><p>It’s the difference</p><p>between being chosen</p><p>and being used.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because if you don’t love yourself,</p><p>love won’t be what hurts you—</p><p><strong>people will.</strong></p>
