LOVING YOU...

"That one is my favorite!"

I stared at item on the shelf while listening to her unending reasons why that particular chocolate bar was her favorite.

Not like I had a problem with that anyways. I loved listening to her rants and not-so-small talks. Her angelic voice was to die for.

    I smiled lightly at the chocolate bar and picked it, dropping it into my shopping cart.

    The cashier glanced at the shopping cart and then at the only item I had pulled out of it; the chocolate bar.

    Her eyes met mine and I gave her a tight smile. "It's her favorite. And she likes to always push a shopping cart."

    The lady nodded slowly as she scanned the item but I could tell she found me weird. Not like it mattered. Nobody's thought or opinion about me mattered except one woman's.

    I drove back home in nothing but the sound of her melodious voice singing along loudly in my ears to her favorite song playing in the stereo.

    *I stay up all night, tell myself I'm alright*

    *Baby, you're just harder to see than most*

    *I put the record on, wait 'til I hear our song*

    *Every night, I'm dancing with your ghost*

    I smiled sadly as the lyrics started to make more sense now. It wasn't just a beautiful melody in my ears anymore. It carried a heavy truth.

    Getting home, I dropped the chocolate bar on the pile of the already filled up bowl of chocolate bars sitting on the bedside table on her side.. Yeah, she liked them that much.

    "I got one more." I said into the silence as I laid on our bed. It echoed back.

    I let a tear drop down the side of my face as I stared at the ceiling. "I miss you, you know. A lot."

    I turned to face her, "I always will." I said while stroking the beautiful face on the picture frame laid beside me.

    "Even in death, I'll always love you."

~~~
*Song: *Dancing with your ghost by Sasha Alex Sloan*
Edit: This is completely fiction. I don't know what it feels like to lose a loved one but the song made me think of those who have. Writing this was an emotional rollercoaster for me. I hope you enjoyed it.
