My Love Life.

I stared out the window watching the trees dance away as the bus sped through the highway. I was heading back to school but this time, a different person.

The very first time I was on this trip, I was extremely happy and anxious at the same time. It was my first time in the University and I didn't know anything about anything.

Being the first child of two with strict parents, there was no chance I was going to really know much about school life until I got there.

The only thing i was told was to mind my business and make sure to attend my classes. Finito!

My mom also warned me about boys and how I should stay away from them, but she didn't warn me about the ones that would come and slowly steal your heart.

So without my parents's knowledge, I entered my first ever relationship in my first year.

Now, earlier I said I was heading back for my second year a different person right? Well, that's because I'm not heading back happy, excited and inlove.

Nope! I'm heading back heartbroken and scared.

Yes, it all happened and ended in the first year. Guess what he said.

"I'm done. I was just testing the waters and exploring my options. You don't expect me to date one person all my life and not explore before I decide to settle down, right?"

Yup! That's what he sent as a text.

Yes! I know! Not even a phone call. A text on a random Tuesday morning after devotion. And this was during the holiday.

You can imagine the shock on my face, right?

And worse, I had to school my facial expressions in front of my parents. Worse experience ever!

Thats why they tell you to avoid your seniors. I thought a 200level student wouldn't be that bad, but I guess I was wrong.

The craziest part was how he moved on so fast while I cried my eyes out every night. He really meant his words. He was posting another girl the next day.

Now, I'm scared because we're students under the same faculty and I'm definitely not over him yet! Oh, Lord, help me!

At the end of my short prayer, the bus had arrived at the park. I wasn't ready to go down. I wished I could have stayed at home but that was very far from being possible.

I came down and was about to look for a cab to take me to my hostel but a girl stopped me. "Hi, please I'm so sorry. My phone just went off while I was trying to reach my cousin. He's supposed to come pick me up but now i can't reach him."

I stared at her for a moment. She looked young. Maybe a year or two younger than myself. My eyes dropped to her bags and they looked like what i had carried when i first came to school.

"Um..." I looked around watching as people walked by, then I turned back to her, "Okay, fine. But make it quick please."

She beamed with a grateful smile, "Thank you so much."

I nodded and brought out my phone, "I'll dial the number and put it on speaker. Are you okay with that?" I wasn't about to take chances with my phone. No offence.

"Sure, no problem." She agreed immediately.

She called the number, I dialed it and then the other person answered, "Hello?"

    Well... Okay.

It was a male's voice. I really didn't know what I was expecting but that doesn't matter.

She told him where she was and he said he was minutes away. He hung up and she thanked me again.

I should have just nodded and left. I really should have. Because why did I offer to wait with her till he arrived only for him to arrive and the most natural thing to ever happen happened, but then I acted stupid.

He thanked me as well and I nodded in response. I wasn't about to embarrass myself in front of a handsome young man.

Yes, I'll admit it. It's not like he'd ever find that out. He was a fine looking man.

"Are you also a student here?" He asked after glancing at my luggage.

I nodded again without looking at him and muttered out a, "Yes."

"Oh. Well, that's very nice to meet you. My name is David. I'm a 400 level Engineering student. And you are?"

    I paused.

Then I turned to my side. His hand was outstretched for a handshake.

I lifted my eyes to his. He was waiting for a response but I wasn't going to give any.

No, thank you. Not another senior. Nope.

Without a single word, I left. Come and sue me.
