Over-familiarity is “getting too used to something that you don't realize and appreciate the importance anymore”.

Some years back, when I was in secondary school, I was given an assignment by my further mathematics teacher that I must submit the next day. I was quite serious back then 😁 that most times I skipped dinner because I was busy with my assignment and I wouldn't eat or sleep till I get it done. I tried all I could to solve this question, but I was not just getting it. I was so frustrated I cried at some point.

Everyone had gone to bed, but I was still there, I just couldn’t stop trying.

Around midnight, my mom came back to check on me and she saw I was still there. She asked for the question and as she looked at it, she suggested,”Why don't you do it this way and try this method? And I tried it and boom… I got the answer. I was like, oh my God, I have spent hours on this question and it does not even take like 30 minutes for my mom to help me with it. I had assumed she won’t know it and didn’t ask for her help. I was wrong and I learnt that the hard way.

My point is, I was just too familiar with her. I couldn't even think of asking her for help and unfortunately, most people suffer from this disease of over-familiarity.

We get too used to people that would have contributed to our growth and development. Over-familiarity (see finish as some call it) is very detrimental to our growth in life!

We tend to admire some people from afar and appreciate their values, whereby we neglect the people God has blessed us with. Whereas, the people we have around us can even be of more blessings to us than those we admire. But over-familiarity will not make us see all these things.

This sometimes affects our relationship with God. Sometimes we just get too used to God that we can't decode when He is trying to teach us in a new way/dimension. We take our worship, thanksgiving, prayer to Him as mere routine instead of being heartfelt. Over-familiarity is a disease that kills slowly.

BEWARE OF IT!!!

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
