Poesy to Amanda; The Battle of a Black Woman

Like an invisible eye of the sun, I looked at the radiance in her skin

All I could see. I'm the guardian spirit sent by Mama to accompany her.

I'm invisible but I saw her step as she step on the last step in the

plane ladder. Her name is Amanda.

She went through my lid as she walked from the airport to the hall

and from the hall to the high and with her hand she received her honour.

In talking - a gift I received from her- with foe, folks, friends and family

Time left her where the were and she looked around the place of silence.

I flowed after her like an ocean as she makes for the limo with a " daiba".

She asked the "daiba" to open the door but the daiba refused...

"Are you the honoured, you can't be, a woman and a black one?

I was angry at this but I left her to fight the battle for her colour and her picture.

I'm also black though not a woman; the battle she fought and won in silent, pen and book.
