Shadows Over the Homeland
<p>Across the fields where children played,</p><p>A heavy silence now is laid.</p><p>The winds that carried songs of cheer</p><p>Now whisper tales of pain and fear.</p><p><br/></p><p>The roads once bright with trade and hope</p><p>Have become paths where many grope.</p><p>For bandits roam through night and day,</p><p>Stealing peace and lives away.</p><p><br/></p><p>The farmer leaves his land behind,</p><p>With worry weighing on his mind.</p><p>The crops he planted with great care</p><p>Stand lonely in the open air.</p><p><br/></p><p>Mothers pray through sleepless nights,</p><p>For loved ones caught in violent sights.</p><p>Fathers dream of safer days,</p><p>When fear no longer clouds their ways.</p><p><br/></p><p>Yet Nigeria still stands tall,</p><p>Though hardship casts its shadowed pall.</p><p>For strength resides within her heart,</p><p>A flame no darkness can depart.</p><p><br/></p><p>Let justice rise and courage lead,</p><p>Let leaders answer every need.</p><p>And may the dawn soon brightly shine</p><p>On every home, on every line.</p><p><br/></p><p>For peace is not a distant star,</p><p>It lives within us where we are.</p><p>And one day, free from fear and pain,</p><p>Nigeria shall smile again.</p>
