The Heavy Weight
<p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>I have a stone beneath my ribs,</p><p>That no river can wash away. </p><p>It sleeps when I smile, </p><p>And wakes when the night grows. </p><p><br/></p><p>I carry storm in my pocket, </p><p>Though my hands look empty. </p><p>There are oceans in my chest, </p><p>I have learned not to spill. </p><p><br/></p><p>Sometimes, I wonder, </p><p>How long can a heart bend </p><p>Before it forgets, </p><p>The shape of hope. </p><p><br/></p><p>I have become a house, </p><p>With too many locked rooms, </p><p>Each holding a version of me, </p><p>I was too afraid to save. </p><p><br/></p><p>Still, I walk---</p><p>Slowly, silently,</p><p>With this invisible burden, </p><p>Resting where no one can see. </p><p><br/></p><p>And perhaps that is what hurts most: </p><p>Looking whole </p><p>While carrying pieces</p><p>Of myself everywhere. </p><p><br/></p><p>✍🏿The VOA 🌸✨</p>
