<p>There are things people do warn you about.</p><p><br/></p><p>Don't answer knocks at midnight.</p><p><br/></p><p>Don't whistle after dark.</p><p><br/></p><p>Don't look back when someone calls your name from an empty road.</p><p><br/></p><p>But no one ever tells you this...</p><p><br/></p><p>Never trust the last voice you hear before you fall asleep.</p><p><br/></p><p>I used to think those few seconds between being awake and dreaming belonged to silence.</p><p><br/></p><p>Turns out I was wrong.</p><p>Then it started......</p><p><br/></p><p>The first night...</p><p>It whispered my name.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not loudly.</p><p>Not like someone trying to wake me.</p><p><br/></p><p>Just enough for me to wonder if I imagined it.</p><p><br/></p><p>The second night...</p><p><br/></p><p>It finished my sentence before I did.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then the third...</p><p><br/></p><p>It answered a question I had only asked in my head.</p><p><br/></p><p>That's when I stopped sleeping with the lights off.</p><p><br/></p><p>Though people say loneliness can make you hear things.</p><p><br/></p><p>Stress can too.</p><p><br/></p><p>Maybe.</p><p><br/></p><p>But stress doesn't know your childhood nickname.</p><p><br/></p><p>Loneliness doesn't laugh exactly the way your late grandmother did.</p><p><br/></p><p>And imagination...</p><p><br/></p><p>Imagination shouldn't know what someone is about to say before they say it.</p><p><br/></p><p>So I started asking around.</p><p><br/></p><p>Carefully.</p><p><br/></p><p>Without sounding insane.</p><p><br/></p><p>An old woman looked at me for a long time before asking,</p><p><br/></p><p>"Has it started talking before you sleep... or after you wake?"</p><p><br/></p><p>I didn't answer.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because I didn't know.</p><p><br/></p><p>Some mornings I couldn't remember where the dream ended...</p><p><br/></p><p>...and where the voice began.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then yesterday, it said something different.</p><p><br/></p><p>It didn't call my name.</p><p><br/></p><p>It didn't whisper.</p><p><br/></p><p>It simply said—</p><p><br/></p><p>"You're almost ready to hear the last one."</p><p><br/></p><p>So lost right now......</p><p><br/></p><p>I don't know what "the last one" means.</p><p><br/></p><p>I don't know whose voice I've been hearing.</p><p><br/></p><p>But tonight...</p><p><br/></p><p>For the first time...</p><p><br/></p><p>I'm afraid to fall asleep.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because what if the last voice...</p><p><br/></p><p>...isn't trying to wake me?</p><p><br/></p><p>Just what if ......</p><p><br/></p><p>What if it's waiting for everyone else to stop hearing me?</p>

rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.

Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.

Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.

Top Engagers
For the Top Engagers Track, we award the top 3 people who engage the most with other user's content via
comments.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Engagers" tab on the rankings page.
Most Engaged Content
The Most Engaged Content recognizes users whose content received the most engagement during the month.
We pick the top 3.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Contributors" tab on the rankings page.
Contributor Rankings
The Rankings/Leaderboard shows the Top 20 contributors and engagers on TwoCents a monthly and all-time basis
— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
This page also shows the top engagers on an all-time & monthly basis.
