Vanity upon Vanity, All Is Indeed Vanity
<p><br/></p><p>Maybe to many there is hope,</p><p>Hope at the end of the tunnel,</p><p>Hope before the tunnel ends.</p><p><br/></p><p>But to me,</p><p>It is an endless cycle of pain.</p><p><br/></p><p>So let me understand</p><p>What it means to make something out of life,</p><p>Yet still be trapped within life itself.</p><p><br/></p><p>The awards came.</p><p>The applause came.</p><p>The celebrations came.</p><p><br/></p><p>But my problems stayed.</p><p><br/></p><p>I was not progressing;</p><p>I was sinking,</p><p>Going deeper into a ditch,</p><p>One that stretched farther</p><p>Than I could ever climb back from.</p><p><br/></p><p>I lost everything</p><p>In the chase for life.</p><p><br/></p><p>Yet life itself</p><p>Was meaningless.</p><p><br/></p><p>I toiled.</p><p>I prayed.</p><p>I became prey,</p><p>A parasite to my own ambitions.</p><p><br/></p><p>Yet I still lost.</p><p><br/></p><p>I carried pains</p><p>I could no longer bear.</p><p><br/></p><p>Life weighed upon me</p><p>At a very young age</p><p>A terrible sight to behold.</p><p><br/></p><p>I searched for meaning</p><p>In the victories.</p><p>I searched for peace</p><p>In the applause.</p><p><br/></p><p>But all I found</p><p>Was the echo of my own emptiness.</p><p><br/></p><p>And so I realized,</p><p>Without ever truly making it,</p><p><br/></p><p>That vanity upon vanity,</p><p>All is indeed vanity.</p>
