When Did Being Tired Become Something to Be Proud Of?

When did being tired become something to be proud of?

Because tell me why somebody says, “I haven't slept since yesterday,” and instead of asking if they're okay, we're like, “Wow, you're really grinding.”

😭

We have somehow made being busy look like an achievement.

“I've been so busy.”

“I've had so much to do.”

“I barely have time to sleep.”

And sometimes, we even say it with pride.

Like being exhausted means we're doing something right.

And honestly, I understand it.

There is so much to do.

School.

Money.

Work.

Trying to build a career.

Trying to make something out of yourself.

Trying to keep up with everybody.

Trying to become the person you said you would become.

There is always something.

Another assignment.

Another deadline.

Another goal.

Another skill to learn.

Another thing you should probably be doing.

And because everybody seems to be moving, resting starts to feel like you're falling behind.

You see someone waking up at 5am, studying, working, going to the gym, building a business, learning a new skill and sleeping at 1am...

And you're there thinking,

“Maybe I'm not doing enough.”

So you push yourself.

Even when you're tired.

Even when your brain is screaming for a break.

Even when you don't even remember the last time you did something just because you wanted to.

Because apparently, being busy means you're serious about your life.

But...

Are you actually productive, or are you just busy?

Because those two things aren't the same.

You can spend the entire day doing things and still not actually move forward.

You can answer messages, attend classes, study, work, scroll, create content, run errands, make plans and still go to bed wondering where the day went.

Sometimes we're not productive.

We're just occupied.

And I think that's something we don't talk about enough.

We've made rest feel like a reward.

“I'll rest when I'm done.”

But when are you ever really done?

There will always be something else to do.

So you keep postponing rest.

You keep telling yourself you'll sleep later.

You'll relax later.

You'll take care of yourself later.

And before you know it, you're constantly tired and you don't even know why.

Maybe because you've been treating yourself like a machine.

And you're not.

You're a person.

You are allowed to have days where you don't achieve anything.

You're allowed to sleep.

You're allowed to watch a movie without feeling guilty.

You're allowed to spend an afternoon doing absolutely nothing.

You're allowed to take a break without first proving that you deserve one.

And no, I'm not saying we should all become lazy and stop chasing our goals.

Please 😂.

I'm saying that resting does not mean you're unserious.

Sometimes, resting is what allows you to keep going.

Because what is the point of building the life you want if you're too exhausted to enjoy it?

What is the point of constantly trying to become a better version of yourself if you never give the current version of you a chance to breathe?

I think we need to stop glorifying exhaustion.

Stop making “I'm so busy” the only acceptable answer to “How are you?”

Sometimes “I'm tired” should just mean I'm tired.

Not “I'm successful.”

Not “I'm hardworking.”

Not “I'm doing better than you.”

Just...

I'm tired.

And I need to rest.

Maybe being busy isn't always a sign that you're moving forward.

Sometimes, you are just running.

And you don't even know where you're going.

So, please...

Rest.

Not because you've finished everything.

Not because you've earned it.

Just because you're human.

Because you can't keep pouring from an empty cup and call it productivity.

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
Top Engagers
For the Top Engagers Track, we award the top 3 people who engage the most with other user's content via

The Most Engaged Content recognizes users whose content received the most engagement during the month.
We pick the top 3.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Contributors" tab on the rankings page.
Contributor Rankings
The Rankings/Leaderboard shows the Top 20 contributors and engagers on TwoCents a monthly and all-time basis
— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
This page also shows the top engagers on an all-time & monthly basis.
