A QUIET LIFE
<p><span style="background-color: transparent;">From cradle's cry to final breath we toil,</span></p><p>Bound to a wheel that neither sleeps nor grieves.</p><p>We learn too soon that comfort carries chains,</p><p>And every dream has creditors to please.</p><p><br/></p><p>The mornings steal what youth had meant to keep;</p><p>Our brightest years dissolve in clocks and dust.</p><p>We trade our names for wages, promises cheap,</p><p>While gilded tables groan for those above.</p><p><br/></p><p>Halfway, the road no longer greets the dawn;</p><p>The banners we once raised begin to fray.</p><p>Each hard-won summit whispers, Carry on,</p><p>Yet every peak reveals another grey.</p><p><br/></p><p>Still hope persists — a stubborn, fragile spark —</p><p>A porch at dusk, a child who knows our name,</p><p>A table filled with laughter after dark:</p><p>Small victories no fortune ever claims.</p><p><br/></p><p>Yet many fall before that peace appears,</p><p>Their footsteps ending where the burden grew.</p><p>The earth remembers all their silent years;</p><p>The living count the names the heavens knew.</p><p><br/></p><p>So castles rise on foundations of sand,</p><p>And time collects its payment without haste.</p><p>Reality extends its weathered hand,</p><p>Accepting blood where dreams had offered faith.</p><p><br/></p><p>For some, old age arrives with quiet grace </p><p>A weathered chair beneath familiar skies.</p><p>For others, only silence keeps their place;</p><p>The ledger closes long before goodbye.</p><p><br/></p><p>Still onward, then. Such is our mortal art:</p><p>To seek a dawn we may not live to see,</p><p>And leave, within another's hopeful heart,</p><p>A gentler world than what was given me.</p><p><br/></p><p>Yet still, in every scar, a story we all share:</p><p>The pain of being human, all the same.</p>
