I stepped out of the room and headed toward the sitting room, where everyone was getting ready to watch the movie.

All of a sudden, the lights went out.

Everything became pitch black.

I froze.

I could barely see anything through the darkness. A thick mist had suddenly filled the hallway, curling around my feet and rising slowly until it blurred everything around me.

Then I heard it.

That voice.

The same voice I had heard before.

It called my name.

“Elizabeth…”

My heart pounded violently against my chest.

No.

Not again.

I tried to move backward, but my body refused to obey me.

“Elizabeth…”

The voice called again, louder this time.

Shoot. I couldn't control myself any longer.

My feet began moving toward the sound.

I knew I shouldn't.

Every part of me screamed to stop, but something was pulling me forward. The closer I got, the stronger the voice became.

Then, suddenly

A hand tapped my shoulder.

I gasped.

Something surged through my entire body.

My eyes widened immediately.

And then I saw it.

A vision.

I saw myself back home, in my grandmother's inner room where she performed her rituals.

Then I heard that familiar chant the same one she used to summon spirits.

Oh no.

She was trying to summon my spirit.

I immediately started reciting the protective chant, murmuring the words under my breath.

But she was too strong.

I struggled against whatever force was holding me, desperately trying to break free.

Time was running out. I was becoming weaker with every passing second. My breathing grew ragged and unsteady as I felt my strength slowly draining away.

I continued murmuring the protective chant, desperately trying to hold on, but it was becoming harder to keep my focus.

I needed someone to touch me.

I needed to break free.

I felt a warm hand grip my shoulders and spin me around.

The moment I was touched, I broke free from the spell.

I stumbled forward and nearly fell straight into Stefan's chest.

He quickly steadied me, looking at me with concern.

“Are you okay?”

I realized I was sweating profusely despite the air conditioner being on.

I quickly nodded.

“Yes. I'm fine. I was just… lost and confused. It's my first time in your house.”

He studied me for a moment, as if he wasn't completely convinced, but he didn't press further.

Instead, he gently guided me toward the sitting room.

So I followed him.

I looked around for a single seat where I could sit alone. I spotted one and quickly took it.

A few moments later, the door opened, and Daniel and Dani walked in, accompanied by a stunningly beautiful lady with wavy black hair and striking hazel eyes.

They were all carrying boxes two boxes of pizza each.

I stared at them for a moment, taking in the unfamiliar woman's appearance.

She was beautiful, effortlessly so.

They walked into the sitting room and placed the pizza boxes on the table.

I waved at them, and the lady walked toward me, stretching out her hand.

“I'm Becca. Daniel told me about you. It's so nice to finally meet you.”

I returned her handshake with a smile and nodded.

“I'm Elizabeth. Nice to meet you too.”

I wanted to add, I heard nothing about you, but I decided to keep that thought to myself. 😅

I didn't want to sound rude, especially since I'd only just met her.

Daniel walked toward us.

“This is my girlfriend, Becca.”

Becca immediately blushed and leaned in to give him a quick peck.

“Ewwww!”

I rolled my eyes and smiled at them.

“Why in front of me?”

I said in my mind.

Then Dani walked over to me and asked if I was feeling better.

I nodded.

“Yes, I'm fine now.”

She gave me a small smile and nodded before turning her attention back to the others.

Then my mind drifted back to what had happened earlier.

I was beginning to suspect Stefan, but I kept trying to convince myself that it was all just a coincidence.

Still, something felt off about him.

I looked at him again and noticed a strange glint of mischief in his eyes.

Those eyes…

Where had I seen them before?

My heart suddenly stopped.

The ritual.

The figure they had worshipped.

The god they had wanted to sacrifice me to.

Those were his eyes.

But that was impossible.

I mean, how could two different entities have the same eyes?

Yet, I couldn't shake off the feeling.

Then I remembered his touch.

Shoot.

Shoot.

The moment he touched me earlier, something had surged through my body.

My eyes widened.

He had been feeding on my power.

How?

I stared at Stefan, my mind racing as I tried to make sense of everything I'd just realized.

But before I could think any further, I got distracted by the laughter coming from Daniel and Becca.

“Arrghhh.”

I forced myself to push the thoughts aside.

Then Dani and Emily walked in carrying plates and cups, while Daniel stood up and went to get some ice cream.

The plates and cups went around, and soon we were all eating, laughing, and settling in for the movie.

Of all the movies we could have watched, we somehow ended up watching a horror movie the exact one Stefan had picked.

Seriously?

Why did we have to watch a horror movie that Stefan picked?

After we finished the movie, I offered to take the plates to the kitchen. I figured it would give me the perfect opportunity to look for a lighter or a box of matches.

I needed them for the ashes I would need that night.

Stefan objected, saying I should rest, but I insisted.

I quickly added that I wanted to spend some time with the girls, hoping that would shut him up.

Thankfully, it worked.

So, Emily, Becca, and I took the plates, while Dani was already fast asleep.

We headed to the kitchen, and I couldn't help but stare when we got there.

The kitchen was huge literally three times the size of the room I was staying in.

I looked around in amazement. This place was ridiculously big.

I dropped the plates on the kitchen counter and quickly scanned the room for a lighter or a box of matches.

Yes!

I spotted one.

I waited until no one was looking, then quickly slipped it into my hair, which was tied up in a bun.

Perfect.

No one would ever suspect a thing. 🙃😂

I casually walked back to join the girls as if nothing had happened.

We continued talking about the movie, laughing and joking like everything was perfectly normal.

Meanwhile, the lighter was safely hidden in my hair.

But wait.

Why was everything so easy?

I didn't have to struggle for almost anything. Everything I needed seemed to fall into place far too easily.

A cold stare suddenly sent a shiver down my spine.

I turned around slowly, only to find Stefan standing at the kitchen doorway, watching me.

My heart skipped a beat.

Why was he looking at me like that?

“Mehnnnnn…”

He's so creepy.

I just hoped he hadn't seen me take anything.

Eventually, we were done, and everyone retired to their rooms.

Becca went into Daniel's room. 😭😭😭

Oohh my chest !😪

I lay on my bed, thinking about what I could burn. Then I remembered the books on the dressing table.

I quickly tore out a few pages and reached for the lighter.

Nooooo!

It was gone.

Fear gripped me as I frantically searched around me, checking every corner of the room to see if it had fallen somewhere.

Then I heard a noise.

Shoot!!!

My heart began pounding.

The noise came again.

I quickly scanned the bed.........and there it was!

The lighter.

I rushed to pick it up, struck the flame, and immediately lit the pieces of paper.

The noise was getting closer.

“Oh no… no, no, no.”

I lit more pieces of paper and quickly gathered the ashes. Using them, I began drawing a line across the doorway.

The noise was almost at the door now.

Then the doorknob twisted.

My heart nearly stopped.

The door slowly creaked open.

I quickly threw the remaining ashes across the doorway.

The door suddenly slammed shut with tremendous force.

A loud shriek pierced through the room.

Silence.

I stood there frozen, my chest heaving.

“That was close.”
