DIFFERENT BETWEEN OMEGA-3 FATTY ACID AND COD LIVER OIL

1️⃣ Firstly, they are not the same.

Omega-3 fatty acid usually comes from fish (DHA & EPA) and plants (ALA) and is more concentrated.

While Cod liver oil contains Omega-3 plus Vitamins A & D; and it is gotten from the liver of cod fish.

2️⃣ No one is better than the other, it depends on your health need.

Cod Liver Oil is good if you want to support joint health, strong bones, better vision, immune system, and overall well-being. Before now it has been used to prevent rickets.

Omega-3 Fish Oil is preferred for lowering blood triglycerides (blood fats), supporting heart health, brain function, and reducing inflammation (eg. Arthritis), without the risk of high Vitamin A intake.

3️⃣ Both of them do not cause significant weight gain as they don't increase appetite or build body fat/muscle on their own.

However, they may support healthy weight gain indirectly by improving your nutrition if you're underweight due to poor nutrition, and the vitamins A&D in cod liver oil may correct some deficiencies.

4️⃣ Pregnant women should avoid Cod liver oil, due to high Vitamin A levels, which can cause birth defects. But Omega-3 is safe during pregnancy.

Generally, Cod liver oil naturally has vitamin A which can cause vitamin A toxicity if taken for long-term. And should not be combined with supplements containing vitamin A.

5️⃣ Both Omega-3 and cod liver oil can increase bleeding risk, especially if you take blood thinners, stay away, and people allergic to fish should avoid them.

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
