I came across something recently that left me thinking.

There is a substance in breast milk called Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs). It is the third most abundant solid component in breast milk, yet a baby cannot digest it.

At first, that sounds like poor design.

Why would a mother’s body produce so much of something her child cannot even use?

Then I learned something beautiful.

HMOs were never meant to feed the baby directly. They were designed to feed the good bacteria living inside the baby’s gut. Those bacteria, once nourished, help protect the baby from disease, strengthen the immune system, and build an environment where the child can thrive.

In other words, the baby benefits from something it never consumes.

That thought stayed with me.

Perhaps life has always worked this way.

Not everything prepared for you is meant to satisfy you immediately. Some things are sent ahead—not to feed you, but to feed the systems that will eventually sustain you.

Some relationships don’t change your life because they stay. They change your life because they cultivate something within you.

Some jobs don’t make you wealthy. They make you capable.

Some seasons don’t make you happy. They make you ready.

We often judge value by direct results. If I can’t use it now, if I can’t see the benefit today, I assume it serves no purpose.

Nature quietly disagrees.

A mother produces something her child cannot digest because the child needs something deeper than food. The child needs an environment where life can flourish.

Maybe that’s true for us too.

Maybe some of the prayers that seem unanswered are simply nourishing places we cannot yet see.

Maybe some delays are feeding the roots before growing the branches.

Maybe the greatest blessings in our lives are not the ones that touch us directly, but the unseen provisions working tirelessly beneath the surface.

I’ve realized that not every gift is designed for immediate gratification.

Some gifts are designed to prepare the ground before the harvest.

And perhaps that is one of the quietest expressions of love: providing not only for what someone needs today, but also for what will keep them alive tomorrow.

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.

Contributor Rankings
The Rankings/Leaderboard shows the Top 20 contributors and engagers on TwoCents a monthly and all-time basis
— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
This page also shows the top engagers on an all-time & monthly basis.
