How did I even meet this man?

It’s Not a dream, It’s real

I can see Gbenga, my boyfriend, right in front of me, on one knee, holding out a ring.

“Fikayomi, will you marry me?” he asks, his voice was soft and deep in my ear.

For a moment, I freeze.

I can’t scream. I can’t cry. I’m too overwhelmed to do anything but stare at him.

This man… Gbenga.

He has never failed me. Not once.

As my boyfriend, he has been everything I could ever ask for. Patient, intentional and loving.

And now, he’s standing right in front of me, asking me to be his wife.

Who am I to say no?

Oluwagbenga… who am I to say no?

Behind me, I hear the shaky voices of my friends, filled with excitement and joy.

“Fikayo, say yes!

Fikayo, say yes!”

But I don’t need anyone to push me.

I already know what I want.

I turn back to him, nodding slowly as a small “yes” escapes my lips.

“I would like to be your wife,” I say, my voice trembling.

I want to grow old with this man.

I want to be the mother of his children.

I want to share both the peaceful days and the storms with him.

Gbenga and I had only been dating for six months.

But honestly?

Those six months felt like one full year in paradise.

He is just a very cool man.

Not the fake type. I mean, really cool.

Sometimes, I sit down and ask myself, How did I even meet this guy?

My friends always tease me.

They say I have locked him spiritually.

They’ll say things like,

“Fikayo, this one pass ordinary love. This one don enter juju level.”

Because tell me, how on earth does a man love someone this much?

Even when we fight, and I’m clearly the one at fault, he will talk to me with sense. He will correct me, and somehow, he will still give me the baby treatment like nothing happened.

Before I even finish cooling down from the argument, I’ll hear a knock on my door.

He has already entered my apartment.

“Fikayomi… Wifey.”

Next thing I know, he’s handing me a money bouquet, an expensive wig, or some random gift just to make me smile.

With all this love I’m getting, I don’t even give men my number anymore.

If any man tries approaching me, I shut him down immediately.

“No way., i’m loved..... I have a man.”

But let me be honest…

How did I even meet this man?

Do you want to know?
