Mind of an overthinker

I think one of the most exhausting things about being an overthinker is that your mind rarely lets you experience anything just once.

Before I do something, I think about it.

While I'm doing it, I'm thinking about how I'm doing it.

And after I've done it, I think about whether I should have done it differently.

Before I call someone, I've already planned the conversation in my head.

Before I meet someone, I'm thinking about what I'm supposed to say, how I'm supposed to act, and what could possibly go wrong.

Even when nothing has happened yet, my mind is already preparing for everything that could.

Sometimes I genuinely get tired and think, “I've thought about this enough.”

But somehow, my mind always finds one more question.

And that is what makes overthinking so exhausting.

You don't just live what is happening.

You live what might happen, what could have happened, and what should have happened.

But maybe overthinking is not always a sign that something is wrong with us.

Maybe sometimes it's just the mind trying too hard to protect us, to prepare us for every possible outcome, to prevent mistakes, to make sure we're ready for whatever comes next.

But even when it comes from a good place, it can still be exhausting.

Because you can't prepare for every possibility.

Maybe the real lesson is not to stop thinking completely.

Maybe it is learning when to say, “I've thought about this enough. I'll just let it happen.”

Because not everything needs an answer before it happens.
