Surviving myself

Nobody really talks about this part.

The part where nothing is exactly wrong

but nothing feels right either.

The part where your biggest battle

is not with people or life but your own mind.

Because how do you explain

being tired when you did not really do anything?

How do you explain feeling overwhelmed

when everything around you looks normal?

I have learned that the hardest kind of survival is quiet.

It is waking up every day and convincing yourself to keep going.

It is smiling in conversations while your thoughts are somewhere else entirely.

It is being present physically, but mentally you’re fighting things that you can not even put into words.

And the crazy part is that people don’t even see it.

Because from the outside, you look like someone who has it all figured out

People even come to you sometimes

and ask,

“How do you do it?”

Like you’re not struggling the way they are.

And in your head, you’re just there thinking

If only you could see the things I don’t know how to explain.

But you can’t even say it.

Because how do you put into words something you’re still trying to understand yourself?

And maybe that’s what this is

Learning how to exist while figuring yourself out.

Learning how to keep going

even when your mind does not feel like a safe place.

Because at the end of the day

surviving yourself is still survival.

And maybe nobody claps for it,

maybe nobody even notices it

but it counts.
