My mum said thank you for paying my school fees."</p><p><br/></p><p>"My pleasure," Williams replied.</p><p><br/></p><p>The boy waved before disappearing around the corner.</p><p><br/></p><p>Williams looked down at the watering can in his hand.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then at the roses blooming beneath him.</p><p><br/></p><p>Beautiful things...</p><p><br/></p><p>required careful attention.</p><p><br/></p><p>He smiled to himself.</p><p><br/></p><p>Back at the station...</p><p><br/></p><p>Daniel pinned the photographs onto a whiteboard.</p><p><br/></p><p>Red strings.</p><p><br/></p><p>Dates.</p><p><br/></p><p>Locations.</p><p><br/></p><p>Times.</p><p><br/></p><p>There was no suspect.</p><p><br/></p><p>No fingerprints.</p><p><br/></p><p>No witnesses.</p><p><br/></p><p>Only a pattern.</p><p><br/></p><p>And patterns...</p><p><br/></p><p>didn't lie.</p><p><br/></p><p>His phone buzzed.</p><p><br/></p><p>It was his wife.</p><p><br/></p><p>"Will you be home for dinner?"</p><p><br/></p><p>Daniel stared at the message.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then at the board.</p><p><br/></p><p>He typed.</p><p><br/></p><p>"I'll be late."</p><p><br/></p><p>He pressed send.</p><p><br/></p><p>Without realizing it...</p><p><br/></p><p>he had just chosen the case that would change both his life...</p><p><br/></p><p>and Dr. Williams'.</p><p><br/></p><p>End of Part 2</p><p><br/></p><p>The city slept peacefully that night.</p><p><br/></p><p>One man was planning his next move.</p><p><br/></p><p>Another had just taken his first step toward him.</p>
