One step forward, Three steps back
<p>I'm tired...</p><p>But not for the reason you're thinking </p><p><br/></p><p>How much more must life take?</p><p>How much more must I keep locked in?!</p><p>It's been hurting for a lot of years</p><p>So much that there was no scenario I did not paint</p><p>In my silly bid to help it hurt less</p><p>I thought I saw it coming, and maybe I really did</p><p>But I forgot to get ready, for the shock your passing hit</p><p><br/></p><p>I try not to think about it,</p><p>I try to be as strong as they all say I am,</p><p>I do my very best to smile with my eyes and lips,</p><p>While my heart weeps, and my soul splits</p><p>Yeah, I must be damn right foolish</p><p>To think that was all I had to give</p><p>Cos even now I'm stuck in this endless flow</p><p>Of emotional torment</p><p><br/></p><p>Would it help if I blame others?</p><p>Would the pain stab less if I pin my faults on them?</p><p>I'm losing it ...slowly...surely....</p><p>Why were you so nice to me?</p><p>Why do your words keep ringing in my ears -</p><p>Tenderly...Frail....Filled with lots of love?</p><p>I'm insane. Oh, I must be!</p><p>Struggling daily to make it through..</p><p>Wanting to relive even the worst memories with you </p><p><br/></p><p>Do you know?</p><p>Gratitude is the cruelest feeling of all</p><p>Why wasn't I this appreciative </p><p>Of all the little and grand things </p><p>When you weren't six-foot under?</p><p>Now, I wake up each day feeling something new</p><p>Never getting used to this...</p><p>Just always...</p><p>One step forward, and three steps back </p><p><br/></p>
