Pt 1: Silent Grief- The weight of Silence

Some people carry grief like a shadow- always present, but never spoken of.

They laugh at gatherings, show up at work and even post cheerful updates online yet inside they are holding conversation with memories that will never answer back.

Silent Grief is the invincible battle that teaches us how heavy silence can be.

Temi arrived at work at 8:00 a.m. every day. She greeted people, laughed, worked, and posted smiling photos. To everyone else, she was fine. No one knew she told herself each morning: “Just get through today.”

It had been six months since her brother died. Life continued anyway. People worked, complained, celebrated. The sun still rose. That was grief’s cruelty—the world moves on while you don’t.

She never talked about him. She missed the small things: their chats, arguments, and jokes. She would reach for her phone, then remember.

At work, she always said, “I’m fine.” At home, she cried quietly. She once opened his last message: “Don’t forget to bring my charger tomorrow.” She smiled through tears.

Grief isn’t just losing someone—it’s losing the future you imagined with them. So you stay silent, function, and pretend. It doesn't always shout; sometimes it whispers in silence. And in that silence, strength is born.

If you are carrying silent grief, know that your pain is valid even if unseen.
