Christians in the house, this is for you!

Has this ever happened to you? You’re praying, worshipping, and suddenly you start looking around the room like something is there… or following you?

On countless occasions, I have noticed that, and normal me would have been afraid. In this Christian journey, I have realised that the enemy doesn’t just love sin, but loves fear. So, let me tell you two things that happened to me recently that influenced my Christian journey.

Two days before my POP, I fell sick. I was supposed to attend a passing-out party, but malaria said, “Absolutely not.” I was completely tired.

Earlier that day, I had gone out with my sister to get a few things, and when I got home, I realised my wallet was missing. People of God. I searched the entire house. Turned my room upside down. I even went back outside to check the places we had been. Nothing.

Eventually, I blocked my debit cards, cried a little bit in the shower, ate my spaghetti and meatballs, took my drugs, and slept for three hours. There was nothing my tears could do, so I slept.

I woke up around 3 p.m., looked at the disaster my room had become, picked up a broom to sweep, and played “Nagode” by Dunsin Oyekan and David Dam.

As I bent down to sweep, I saw the purse.

Hmm.

Now, I don’t see very well without my glasses. Throughout my search, I wore them. My sister and I had checked that exact spot multiple times. But suddenly, there it was under my bed. Now, maybe malaria affected my eyes. Maybe I somehow missed it before. But deep down, I knew something else had happened.

So, how many times have you said, “Holy Ghost, help me find this thing?’’

Oh, I said it too then, but honestly, heaven was saying, ‘Baby girl, calm down first and sleep’

And honestly, thank God. Now, the second thing that happened to me. There was a night I couldn’t sleep, and usually bananas knock me out. I had eaten two before bed, yet sleep refused to come. There was this strange unrest in my spirit. I prayed for a while, then decided to watch a movie. Eventually, I drifted into that state where you’re not fully asleep, but not fully awake either.

I remember speaking to someone in my spirit about my NGO foundation. Then suddenly, I felt light and peaceful. Like something good had entered the room.

And then…

It changed.

Cue dramatic Bennoveth music.

The atmosphere suddenly became heavy and strange. Fear entered the room, and I quickly recognised this as sleep paralysis. But as believers, we know that it may not be entirely sleep paralysis. In the past, when it happened to me, I was so scared, but this time, I came prepared. This time, instead of panicking, I laughed in my spirit.

Immediately, it broke. I got up and started praying. My heart was racing, my body was shaking, and I knew that unrest was the reason sleep had refused to come in the first place.

Why am I sharing this?

The devil will try you no matter your spiritual ranking, and you need to be prepared in the time of adversity. And secondly, God truly keeps His angels around us. Yes, the enemy tries to send fear, anxiety, confusion, and oppression, but believers were never called to live terrified. And this is coming from someone who used to be afraid of almost everything.

Now? I can’t afford fear when I know Heaven backs me up.

Let that be your mantra: “I get backing.”

Whatever entered that room that night, I don’t know. Whether it ever comes back or not, one thing remains certain: God walks with me.

Oh, and before I go, the moral lesson from the “missing purse” story is this: Whenever you’re going out with your older sibling, don’t carry a purse.

They are the purse. They are the wallet. Use them. I’ve learned my lesson, sha.

Love,

Twi-Twi, the one who always enjoys God’s backing.
