Today, I’ve come to share my testimony!Grab a seat, or rather sit comfortably where you are now, whether you’re in a danfo or in a Ferrari.Dreams do come true.I was just a little girl of 10 when I started to write; I would like to say that I was possessed by the writing spirit at a very young age.Why? I had a PowerPoint presentation on my father’s laptop where I had created characters with shapes and sizes, and gave each of them dialogue.That was the highlight of my summer holidays.That and the chips and chicken he always got for me during break from Tastee Fried Chicken. Unfortunately, the fat didn’t go anywhere, but gave me a fathead.People often ask writers what inspired them to pick up the pen. They usually expect a poetic answer about falling in love with classic literature as a toddler. My absolute truth is that I started writing because I had too many opinions and not enough people willing to sit and listen to me rant in real-time.I was just a shy child, and I didn’t know how to talk about things without writing about them.Let’s be completely honest with each other. Writing is the only socially acceptable place where you can take a person who cut you off in traffic, give them a dramatic backstory, and then mildly inconvenience them in chapter three purely for your own personal satisfaction.Have I done that before? Maybe.So, for me, it was that the pen should be mightier than the sword.In real life, I couldn’t think of a perfect comeback in an argument, but in writing, I could deliver the best that could shatter a villain’s self-confidence in 20 seconds, and it was also sort of therapy for me.So, since age 10, I now have about 15 books to my name.How did I do that? I have no idea, especially when it was before AI. All glory to God. But the point is that I grew past having ideas in my father’s office, keeping my stories, and started sharing them with the world, and since then, I’ve been in anthologies, accepted writing awards, and I know that this is just the beginning. Because you see, that Commonwealth Short Story Prize- I won’t stop until I get shortlisted. But that’s by the way.Look at your story and be glad, because God still has a long string of testimonies to give you. And that little thing you’re doing now could be bigger in two weeks. Two weeks? Yes, because God’s ways are not our ways. So, keep at it, awesome one, and I can’t wait to see you at the top. Happy Book Lovers’ Day to me. You love me and think of gifting me something? Welllll….
