What we weren't prepared for
<p>We were prepared for the beginning,</p><p>for the laughter,</p><p>for the dreams we whispered beneath the stars,</p><p>for the promises that sounded like forever.</p><p><br/></p><p>But no one prepared us</p><p>for the endings.</p><p><br/></p><p>No one told us</p><p>that some people would become strangers</p><p>after once being home.</p><p>That some hands we held tightly</p><p>would be the very hands</p><p>we would have to learn to release.</p><p><br/></p><p>We weren't prepared for the nights</p><p>when our smiles would hide silent battles,</p><p>for the tears we would wipe away</p><p>before anyone noticed,</p><p>for the moments when “I’m fine”</p><p>would become the easiest lie to tell.</p><p><br/></p><p>We were prepared to win,</p><p>but not for failure.</p><p>Prepared to love,</p><p>but not for heartbreak.</p><p>Prepared to dream,</p><p>but not for disappointment.</p><p>Prepared to grow,</p><p>but not for the pain</p><p>that growth would bring.</p><p><br/></p><p>We weren't prepared</p><p>for how quickly life could change—</p><p>how one phone call,</p><p>one goodbye,</p><p>one decision,</p><p>one unexpected moment</p><p>could divide life into</p><p>“before” and “after.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Yet somehow,</p><p>we are still here.</p><p><br/></p><p>A little bruised,</p><p>a little wiser,</p><p>a little quieter,</p><p>but still becoming.</p><p><br/></p><p>Maybe life never intended</p><p>to prepare us for everything.</p><p>Maybe some lessons</p><p>can only be learned</p><p>while walking through them.</p><p><br/></p><p>And perhaps</p><p>what we weren't prepared for</p><p>is exactly what is teaching us</p><p>how strong we truly are.</p><p><br/></p><p>So, if today feels unfamiliar,</p><p>if the road looks nothing</p><p>like the one you imagined,</p><p>breathe.</p><p><br/></p><p>You may not have been prepared</p><p>for this chapter—</p><p>but you are living it.</p><p><br/></p><p>And sometimes,</p><p>surviving what we weren't prepared for</p><p>is how we discover</p><p>who we were always meant to become.</p>
