YOUR FUTURE SELF IS WATCHING✨

*Your Future Self Is Watching*

I don’t think we think about our future selves enough.

Not in the “Where do you see yourself in five years” interview way.

I mean the actual person you’ll wake up as one random Tuesday years from now.

The one who has your laugh.

Your memories.

Maybe a few more wrinkles.

Maybe a few more scars.

Still you.

Sometimes I wonder if she’d be proud of who I am today.

Or if she’d just smile and say, “You worried way too much.”

Because I’ve spent way too much time stressing over things that won’t matter in five years.

That awkward thing I said.

The people who didn’t like me.

The chances I was too scared to take because I wasn’t ready.

It’s funny how permanent the present feels when you’re living it.

It isn’t.

The life you’re living right now is becoming someone’s memory.

Your own.

One day you’ll look back at this version of you like you look back at being thirteen or sixteen.

You’ll think: wow, that’s really how I saw the world.

And that’s both comforting and terrifying.

Comforting because bad days don’t last.

Terrifying because good days don’t either.

I used to think my future self would have everything figured out.

As if wisdom arrives overnight.

As if confidence unlocks after enough birthdays.

But she’s just me.

A little older.

A little kinder.

Living with the consequences of the small choices I make today.

The workouts I skip.

The books I keep saying I’ll read when life slows down.

The people I should’ve called.

The dreams I keep putting on tomorrow like tomorrow promised to show up.

The scary thing isn’t one big decision.

It’s ordinary days.

Repeated.

Nobody wakes up and decides to become who they are ten years later.

They just repeat today.

That’s why I think about my future self.

Not because she has all the answers.

But because she reminds me today doesn’t disappear.

It becomes her story.

So tonight I’ll go to bed earlier.

I’ll start the thing I’ve been postponing.

I’ll stop waiting to feel ready.

Not to become someone else.

But because one day I’ll meet the person I’m becoming.

And I want her to look back with gratitude instead of regret.
