BEHIND THIS SMILE
<p>Behind this smile is a mile of guile built over
</p><p> time from this rhythm of hymns or shall I say
</p><p> screams of things like, “you are memes,
</p><p>you are the fat one in the room so you made the fart”
</p><p> so, I smile, don't you see my smile?
</p><p> I take that compliment in good faith it's a wraith
</p><p> to lay in my grave, grave enough to steal
</p><p>the brave I crave so Dave,
</p><p>why customize my size to fit your insults.
</p><p>Do you see my smile, it’s full of glee,
</p><p>because I like it when you call me ugly,
</p><p>I get quite wriggly like the
</p><p>caterpillar you refer me to.
</p><p> By the way my height is insight that I'm not
</p><p>tall enough for you to see my relevance,
</p><p> I appreciate.
</p><p>Do you see that smile on my heart,
</p><p>or the heat in my hurt every time you
</p><p> part your lips to assert my addiction,
</p><p> I have become a deduction,
</p><p> a riddle for your kids,
</p><p>a bed time story to keep them in check.
</p><p>I have heard a lot of kind compliments on my scar,
</p><p>“I would date you but,
</p><p> that scar could win an Oscar only if it could sing.”
</p><p> OH! are you not seeing the scar,
</p><p>well, it’s a treasure, I keep behind my mask,
</p><p>‘a tourist attraction’, when I walk into a room,
</p><p>I'm the eighth wonder and I kind of
</p><p>want to charge exhibition fees.
</p><p>Behind this smile, is a mile of hurt
</p><p>I can't run to the finish line,
</p><p>I got this adrenaline rush triggered
</p><p> by depression, suppression,
</p><p> appreciation of all these compliments.
