Body is what?

“Body is what?”

“Body is tea!”

“Clock ittttt!” 😂

Funny slang. Fun to say. Easy to use.

But sometimes I wonder, when did people's bodies become public property?

“You've added weight.”

“You've lost weight.”

“You're too skinny.”

“Your stomach is getting big.”

“Why are you looking like this?”

“When are you getting married?”

“Are you pregnant?”

And somehow, we say these things so casually.

Sometimes as a joke.

Sometimes as a compliment.

Sometimes as “concern.”

But the truth is, you don't always know what someone is dealing with behind that body you're commenting on.

Maybe they've been struggling with their confidence.

Maybe they're finally learning to love the body they spent years hating.

Maybe they're going through something they haven't told anyone about.

Or maybe they're simply... existing.

Not every change needs an announcement.

Not every body needs your opinion.

Not every observation needs to leave your mouth.

And honestly, some of the comments we call compliments aren't even compliments.

“You've lost weight. You look so much better now.”

So what was wrong with how I looked before?

“You've added weight, but it suits you.”

But what if I liked myself before?

Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is notice something and keep it to ourselves.

Yes, body is tea.

But maybe we don't always need to clock it.

Clock your mouth instead.

Because you never know when a five second comment will become someone's five year insecurity.

So, what's the most unnecessary comment someone has ever made about your body?
