“Olodo Uprising”—the phrase that got everyone talking. Two words that shouldn’t be seen together, unified to make perfect sense. The narrative behind the phrase gains ground, but the motion lacks effort, so the real question is: between you and me, who is the real olodo?

Ycee used the phrase to express his concern about a worrying cultural shift in Nigeria, where ignorance, internet virality, and shallow entertainment are increasingly rewarded over education and intellectual achievement—forgetting that society is a two-way door. Even if regard is given to one over the other, we the critics are to blame.

There is a saying that the sky is wide enough for every bird to fly without touching wings. In this essence, there is room for both ignorance and authenticity.

It stares us right in the face: the number of hours we spend glued to our screens, driven by the urge to trend and be categorized under "Peller culture." Society gives to whomever it deems fit, whether ignorant or authentic. The only real dispute between the two is negligence. So YES, we reward ignorance and call it entertainment—tagged as "cruise"—but we also reward authenticity and call it innovation. If olodos are being uplifted, then what is truly wrong with being an olodo?

It’s algorithmic in nature. The tension isn't just about what content gets made, but about what we choose to consume, click, and amplify. After all, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, doesn't it?

The Olodo Uprising is a surge, and it has been accepted. The very people liking and commenting are the ones throwing the label around—which still leaves a lingering question: what is your definition of an olodo?

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
