_A story on Technology_

Kemi was 14 when NEPA took light for 3 days straight in her street in Lagos.Ā Ā

Her dad’s barbing shop closed. Her mom couldn’t blend pepper to sell. Homework was done with candlelight and phone torch.

She hated that feeling of "we are stuck because there is no light."

10 years later, Kemi walked into a small place in Yaba called *TechNest Hub*.Ā Ā

Dusty generator outside. 10 laptops inside. One solar panel on the roof.Ā

The man at the door said, "Welcome. Here, we use technology to solve real problems."

Kemi didn’t know code. She didn’t know AI. She only knew frustration.Ā Ā

But TechNest didn’t teach theory. They gave her a problem: _"How can small businesses in Lagos not die when there’s no light?"_

For 6 months, technology became her language.Ā Ā

She learned to code with her phone hotspot.Ā Ā

She learned to build a simple app that tracks solar usage.Ā Ā

She learned to use AI to predict when NEPA will likely take light based on past data.Ā Ā

She learned to design with tools that worked even on low data.

It was not easy. Tech drained her sometimes. Bugs at 2am. "Error 404". Tutorials that made no sense.Ā Ā

But this time, her energy was going to soil, not stone. Because every line of code was solving her mom’s pepper-blending problem.

*2 years later*Ā Ā

Kemi and her team launched *"Lumi"* — a smart solar + battery system with an app.Ā Ā

Small businesses could buy it in installments. The app tells you: "Charge now. NEPA will go off at 6pm."Ā Ā

Barbers can work. Freezers can run. Students can read.

Today, 400 shops in Lagos use Lumi.Ā Ā

TechNest Hub now has 200 students.Ā Ā

And Kemi? She still keeps that first candle on her desk.Ā

To remind her: *_Technology is not about having the latest iPhone.Ā Ā

Technology is light.Ā Ā

It’s the tool that takes people from darkness to possibility._*

When we give our energy to technology that solves, that builds, that grows — we don’t just get gadgets.Ā Ā

We get shops that stay open.Ā Ā

We get kids that read at night.Ā Ā

We get futures.

*Technology is not the destination. It’s the bridge.*Ā Ā

And the bridge only works when we build it for people.
