The Comparison Trap

Feeling behind usually starts with comparison.

Not because your life is actually going badly…

but because you keep placing it next to someone else’s highlight reel.

I only felt behind when I measured my life with someone else’s ruler.

Their career.

Their relationship.

Their milestones.

And every time I did that, I ignored something important.

I don’t have their background.

I don’t carry their wounds.

I don’t have their responsibilities.

And I don’t have their calling.

So why was I racing their life??

Comparison has a way of convincing you that progress is one-size-fits-all.

That if it didn’t happen their way, then something must be wrong with you.

But nothing was wrong with me.

I was just living a different life.

Some people had support I didn’t have.

Some people had clarity earlier.

Some people didn’t have to unlearn before they could build,

And that matters.

Because when you stop comparing, you start noticing your own growth.

The lessons you’ve learned.

The strength you’ve built.

The discernment that came from taking the long way.

Comparison makes you impatient.

Perspective gives you peace.

So now, when I catch myself looking sideways,

I remind myself of this:

Different lives…

mean different timelines,

And there’s nothing wrong with mine.

Part 3 next.
