THE JOURNEY OF MY LIFE

CHAPTER SIX

WHEN LIFE DIDN'T GO AS PLANNED

There is a time in everyone's life when they begin to understand that having a dream is one thing, but making that dream a reality is another.

For me, life had never followed the path I imagined.

As a young girl, I never imagined that I would lose my father so early. I never imagined that I would have to stop my education after primary school. I never imagined that I would lose my mother at thirteen or that my family would become scattered across different places.

But life happened.

And I had to learn how to live with the things I could not change.

There were moments when I looked at other people's lives and wondered what mine would have been like if I had been given the same opportunities. I saw people going to school, building careers, enjoying the support of their families, and planning their futures.

Sometimes, I felt left behind.

But I learned an important lesson: life is not a race.

Everyone's journey has its own timing.

My journey simply had more mountains to climb.

There were days when I became tired of being strong. I wanted someone to tell me that everything would be alright. I wanted to feel protected. I wanted to experience the kind of childhood I had missed.

But there was no way to go back and change those years.

So, I began making peace with my past.

I stopped blaming myself for circumstances that were never my fault. I stopped asking why my life had been different. Instead, I started asking what those experiences could teach me.

Every disappointment became a lesson.

Every closed door taught me patience.

Every difficult season taught me endurance.

Every person who walked away taught me not to depend entirely on people.

And every new opportunity reminded me that life could still surprise me.

I also learned that not every plan we make will work out the way we expect. Sometimes, we can work hard and still face disappointment. Sometimes, we can give our best and still not get the result we hoped for.

That does not mean we have failed.

Sometimes, it simply means there is another road waiting for us.

I began to understand that my journey would have many unexpected turns. I would have moments of happiness and moments of sadness. I would meet people who would become important parts of my story, and I would also meet people whose presence would teach me difficult lessons.

Through it all, I held on to my faith.

I remembered my mother.

I remembered her love for God and the way she remained committed to her faith even when life was difficult. Her example reminded me that difficult circumstances should not determine the kind of person I become.

I wanted to remain kind.

I wanted to remain humble.

I wanted to remain grateful.

Most importantly, I wanted to keep moving forward.

There were still dreams inside me that refused to die.

Even when life did not go according to plan, I refused to believe that my story was over.

I had already come too far to give up on myself.

Looking back, I now realize that some of the greatest changes in my life began during the moments when nothing seemed to be working.

Those moments forced me to grow.

They forced me to think differently.

They forced me to discover strength I never knew I had.

Life had taken me through roads I never chose, but somehow, those roads were leading me toward the person I was becoming.

I learned that sometimes the plan we make for ourselves is not the plan life gives us.

And sometimes, the unexpected journey becomes the most important journey of all.

I did not know what was waiting for me ahead.

But I knew one thing:

Whatever came next, I would face it with faith, courage, and the determination to keep going.

My life had not gone according to plan.

But perhaps that was the beginning of a better plan.

I was not lost. I was simply still becoming.
