THE OLODO UPRISING: ARE WE REWARDING IGNORANCE OR AUTHENTICITY

The "olodo uprising". A phrase that sparked a lot of reactions on the internet where people jumped on the opportunity to give their thoughts, whether to criticize or support it. This phrase has raised questions about what the society now considers as important in whether ignorance or authenticity.

As important as authenticity may seem, ignorance should never be excused. The term "olodo" has been used to describe people who lack knowledge, critical thinking and understanding.

In this time and age, that is the digital age, social media has become a platform where people express themselves, pursue fame, gain recognition and influence regardless of where they are from or even their educational background. But should the pursuit of fame while being authentic be an excuse for ignorance? Of course one can't know it all because yes, learning is limitless. Everyday is an opportunity to grow, learn and develop intellectually.

But as it is currently, the pressure and the need to earn money and grow rich fast while pursuing fame has seemed to have overtaken the importance of education and that is why we hear some people say "education is a scam". I would say that statement is the beginning of the olodo uprising. "Education is a scam" but we still have a lot of people who have pursued fame and wealth but can have and hold proper and intellectual conversations.

Education has in several cases been undervalued.

Yes, wealth and fame is important but gaining knowledge and understanding is vital.

Sensational contents have been gaining more applause thereby dismissing the vitality of factual contents. Most sensational contents don't even add value to the viewers.

As much as it is for a fact that authenticity should be encouraged and appreciated because while some people gain recognition by celebrating ignorance others actually succeed by being authentic, hardworking and talented but the importance of education, critical thinking and accurate information should never be dismissed.

To conclude, being authentic should not become a license to stay ignorant. Fame can be pursued and learning can also be attained. If sensational contents continue to be encouraged over factual knowledge and critical thinking, it's going to be a loss. Authenticity and being informed should be celebrated. Influence may be lost but wisdom stays.

Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
