The Weight of Sorry

An apology was never meant to be a broom that sweeps away the damage, nor a key that unlocks every closed door.

It was never meant to erase the tears, silence the hurt, or pretend the wound never existed.

An apology is not a bargain for forgiveness, nor a shield from consequences. It is simply the courage to stand before the wreckage of your actions and say, "I was wrong."

It is the acceptance that some hearts may need time, that some scars may remain, and that forgiveness is a gift, not a debt.

So today, I do not apologize to make myself feel lighter. I apologize because truth demands it. Because the pain I caused deserves acknowledgment. Because accountability is the least I can offer.

Whether I am forgiven or not, my apology remains— not as an escape from my mistakes, but as a promise to become better than the person who made them.
