We Don't See the Same World Chapter: 3

Have you ever noticed that two people can experience the same thing and still walk away with completely different feelings?

They were both there. They saw the same thing. But they understood it differently.

Why?

Because we don't only see things with our eyes. We also see them through everything we've experienced.

Someone who has been hurt may see danger where someone else sees trust.

Someone who has lost someone may hear the same song and feel sadness, while another person hears it and feels happy.

The song didn't change.

The person listening to it did.

And I think this is why we sometimes misunderstand people. We look at their reaction and think, “Why would you see it that way?”

But we don't know everything that shaped the way they see.

Even when we look back at ourselves, we sometimes wonder why we made certain choices.

But the person you were back then didn't know what you know now.

You changed.

Your understanding changed.

Your perspective changed.

Maybe that's why we shouldn't be so quick to judge someone for seeing things differently.

Sometimes we're looking at the same thing, but we're not seeing the same world.

And maybe understanding people starts with realizing that.
