Why showing matters more than being perfect
<p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Last week a customer came in 5 minutes before closing, frustrated because we were out of the exact thing they needed. My first thought was “just let me go home.” But my dad wasn’t there, and I knew if I brushed them off, they wouldn’t come back.</p><p><br/></p><p>So I stayed, checked the back stock, and found a close alternative. They left calmer than they came in. </p><p><br/></p><p>That’s when it hit me: running the shop isn’t about perfect days. It’s about showing up when it’s inconvenient.</p><p><br/></p><p>Being the firstborn, I’ve learned 3 things about responsibility that I didn’t get from school:</p><p><br/></p><p>*1. Showing up matters more than being perfect*  </p><p>You won’t always have the right answer. But people remember if you tried.</p><p><br/></p><p>*2. Stay calm when others get heated*  </p><p>A stressed customer is usually stressed about life, not you. Don’t take it personal.</p><p><br/></p><p>*3. Small actions build trust*  </p><p>Checking back stock, following up, remembering names — those little things keep people coming back.</p><p><br/></p><p>Running the shop is stressful sometimes. But it’s also where I learned that responsibility isn’t a burden if you see it as a way to take care of people.</p><p><br/></p><p>---</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>
